The winning team’s success had a great amount of significance as they won the SLC T20 title after a lapse of 16 years having last emerged champions in 2005 under the captaincy of Avishka Gunawardena. Electing to bat first SSC were restricted to 146 for five despite an unbeaten 71 from wicket-keeper batsman and Man-of-the-Match Krishan Sanjula who struck five boundaries during his 62-ball innings.

The SSC bowlers then defended their modest score with a splendid performance on the field as Army CC were bowled out for just 117 runs with four deliveries to spare.

Opener Ashan Randika and middle order batsman Himasha Liyanage were the only batsmen to offer any resistance with Himesh Ramanayake (3/23), Kalana Perera (2/15) and Tharindu Ratnayake (2/21) causing the damage.
