
The Sri Lanka Netball Federation (SLNF) last week accepted the application submitted by the Sri Lanka Army Netball Association to join as an associate member.
The application was made at a conference held by the SLNF and it was unanimously decided to accept them to be represented.
President of the SLNF Lakshmi Victoria said that Army have been taking part in netball tournaments for several years now and they deserve to be recognized as the Sri Lanka Army Netball Association.
Meanwhile the Sri Lanka netball team resumed training from January 7.
The training schedules are done by coach Somitha de Alwis and assistant coach PD Prasadi at Torrington ground and at several other centres.
However, the training will focus basically on fitness training.
This is done to focus on the Asian Indoor Games that is to be held in Thailand this year and the pool will consist of both senior and junior players who have excelled.
An advanced certificate course for netball coaches was also conducted by the SLNF last week with more than 20 coaches in attendance.
