A special operation was carried out by the Sri Lanka Navy in the seas off Negombo today (04) and apprehended 04 suspects with over 100kg of ICE (Crystal Methamphetamine), about 80kg of Hashish and seized a multiday fishing trawler used to transfer the narcotic substances.
Meanwhile, the value of the stock of narcotics held during the operation is believed to be over 600 million rupees.
The 04 suspects were identified as the residents of Thoduwawa in Chilaw.
The operation was carried out with the assistance of intelligence services and Police Narcotic Bureau. The operation was also assisted by the Sri Lanka Air Force.
