When the much awaited Christmas and New Year seasons are coming closer, people from all walks of life are awaiting to celebrate these events on a grand scale. Young and old never forget to send greeting cards to their loved ones.

This year has become an unforgettable year to due to the celebration of the International Elders Day on October. HelpAge Sri Lanka (HASL) has produced over 500,000 Christmas and New Year greeting cards to improve the health facilities, especially eye care of this vulnerable sector.
The greeting cards are adorned with colourful photographs, paintings and graphic designs. They are also embossed and foiled.
HelpAge Executive Director Samantha Liyanawaduge said senior citizens who wish to have their Cataract Surgeries free could visit the HelpAge Eye Hospital, Sinsapa Road, Wellawatta.
“Surgeries are performed with high quality foldable Intraocular Lenses,” he said.
The Executive Director called upon the people to extend their co-operation towards this worthy cause by purchasing at least a card to improve the vision of the elders.
He said the HelpAge Eye Hospital has performed 38,000 free cataract surgeries and conducted free eye camps.
HASL Manager Ruchilalani Batuwantudawa said cards are on sale at affordable prices at leading bookshops in Colombo and the suburbs. Cards can also be personalised with your corporate logo with details in colour or black and white.
