‘Nivar’ Cyclonic Storm gradually weakens

The Severe Cyclonic Storm “NIVAR” located over southwest Bay of Bengal makes landfall off the coast Tamil Nadu of India, moves northwestwards and gradually weakening, stated the Department of Meteorology.

 The influence of the weather over the island, from the system will be reduced. 

Several spells of showers will occur in North-western, Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Jaffna, Mannar, Galle and Matara districts.  

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m. 

General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
