The Colombo East Base Hospital has set up the first medical centre in Sri Lanka to treat pregnant women who are infected with Covid-19.
Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Dr. Mayuramanne Dewolage said over 80 pregnant women have tested positive for the virus in the country.
Some 28 pregnant women are under medical care at the treatment centre at Colombo East Base Hospital.
Dr. Dewolage added that four pregnant women have given birth to healthy babies at the hospital.
