A cultivation program of food crops, under the theme “Control the spread of coronavirus and improve food production, was launched in Malwatta area in the Sammanthurai Divisional Secretariat division recently.
The program was held under the leadership of Malwatta Agrarian Services Centre Officer-in- Charge (OIC) M.T. A.Careem while Ampara District Secretary D.M.L.Bandaranayake graced the function as the Chief Guest. The Ampara District Secretariat has joint hands with Mahaweli, Agriculture, Irrigation and Rural Development Ministry, Agriculture Department and Mahaweli Authority to produce seeds for the cultivation season.The residents of the area are encouraged to cultivate by providing planting materials, cultivation and technical know-how free.
