About twenty seven aircraft fly to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport daily, while tuskers and wild elephants in the surrounding areas and on the roads that lead to the Airport pose death threats to passengers and tourists, chief manager of the Airport, Upul Kalansooriya said.
He said the surroundings and the roads that lead to the Airport are plunged into darkness during the night, and the passengers and the tourists are scared of these animals . He proposed that the Department of Wildlife and the police set up a security post in the area to overcome this problem.
