SLAF turns 69

The Sri Lanka Air Force will celebrate its 69th anniversary tomorrow on a grand scale with religious, social and sporting activities to be held from today.

A parade will be held at the Air Force Headquarters in the presence of the Commander of the SLAF Air Mashal Sumangala Dias while all other Air Force bases too will celebrate in the same manner with heads of bases on the anniversary day.

A religious ceremony to mark the occasion will be held at the Kelaniya Temple to invoke blessing on the country and on all servicemen in the Air Force.

The second religious ceremony will be held at the Sri Maha Bodhi premises in Anuradhapura to bless the Air Force flag on March 6.

Arrangements have also been made to clean the road leading to the Sri Pada and renovate temples, hospitals, schools and railway stations in five districts.

The main sporting event will be the ‘Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya’ which will be held from March 5 to 07.
