Carols by the Blind School

5 January, 2020

For the first time a choir from the Blind School, Ratmalana performed an interesting program of carols at the TajSamudra on Monday December 23. No one expected the choir to give the audience an emotion packed rendition of not only carols in English but also popular carols in Sinhala and one sung in Tamil.

The Blind choir opened their program with Angels We Have Heard on High, then switched to Sinhala carols with a translation of Mary’s Boy Child, they harmonised in a Tamil carol and ended their programme confidently singing O Come all Ye Faithful, Silent Night and rounded off singing enthusiastically We Wish You a Merry Christmas. But that was not all – there was surprise to the audience when two of the members Shivantha and Chathurika celebrated their birthdays by cutting the cake.
