Housing Minister and sinister MPs
The late Ranasinghe Premadasa was opening a hand loom factory every week, but his son Sajith Premadasa has taken a step forward by opening housing schemes two or three every week. No doubt the latter is one of the few energetic ministers in the Government.
He deserves the gratitude of the whole country. He has taken a policy for himself that he would go on constructing houses under different projects. He is anxious to see the poor village folks receive comfortable houses with electricity, water and a piece of land for cultivation. He also names the housing schemes in a suitable manner with no discrimination to any of the community. He has now gone constructing housing units beyond 200.
The President has praised his genuine efforts of building houses, and he additionally entrusted the Ministry of Buddhasasana to him. This faith of the President itself proves what and how the junior Premadasa is! May his priority of ‘providing shelters’ to the poor continue with the blessings of the people and the Triple Gem.
In regard to the Opposition Members, most of them admire his enthusiasm of building houses in the country, but could not praise him as they are in the Opposition. Unfortunately, a few jealousy members openly criticize his good works. Those few politicians have foul and garrulous mouths by which they spew poisonous words to harm the feelings of good politicians. Of course, ‘those few’ have pending cases in the magistrate courts for corruption, yet they sling mud which show their mean characters.
The late Premier S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike said that ‘man’s chief duty is to serve man’ and when the Minister of Housing does it ‘those few’ cannot bear it.
