26 May, 2019

The theme song to motivate the Sri Lanka cricket team for the World Cup 2019 was launched on Friday by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) at the Sports Ministry’s Duncan White Auditorium in the presence of Minister Harin Fernando.

The theme of the song ‘Warak Wati Dewarak Nagi Siti Sinhayan Api’, meaning, ‘Lions once fallen, twice risen’ was composed by Wasantha Moragoda and sung by Sanka Dineth. The reason for SLC to introduce the song was to make all Sri Lankans to rally around the team to make their morale forgetting differences.

The Minister addressing the gathering said four songs were forwarded to the Media unit of the SLC and they decided on this song as it had the best wordings for all citizens to understand why they should support the national team. It reminds the people that it is a must to overcome the defeats what they had suffered in the past.

“We as Sri Lankans must never undermine players when they fail to achieve victory but it should be our duty to boost their morale with the view of getting them to reach success. This song is sure to show the public what motivation should be like.” said Minister Fernando.
