Lack of transport for office staff in Nugegoda
We, the residents in and around Nugegoda are faced with immense transport difficulties due to the severe traffic congestion and the inadequate state and private transport facilities.
Even if we travel in our own vehicles, it would take an hour or more, to reach Colombo.
This delay causes us physical as well as mental strain. To avoid the heavy traffic congestion, we often travel by train half way, since we have no alternative. But it is sad to note that there are only two trains with only four compartments which ply on this line, during office hours and at most times one is out of operation for various reasons.
Despite the milling crowd, we are compelled to travel by the one and only train, available.
I would like to make a humble request to the newly appointed Prime Minister, the Transport Minister, CGR, CTB and the private bus owners to deploy more trains, CTB buses and private buses with immediate effect along this route. Also, the Government must take prompt action to reduce the traffic congestion.
We look forward to a favourable response from the Government and the relevant authorities. Providing relief to the public would enhance the productivity of the country.
