
Guam’s under-16 football team made an emphatic start to the AFC Women’s Championship 2019 qualifiers by beating host Sri Lanka 4-2 in their opening match at Longden Place in Colombo yesterday.
Jada Elise lifted Guam 1-0 in the 10th minute with a goal and nine minutes later Jadyn Riley gave Guam a 2-0 lead at the 19th-minute with a low left cross past the Sri Lankan goalkeeper J. Jethunsika. In the latter stage of the first half Sri Lanka midfield Kirushanthi netted in a goal to reduce the margin 2-1.Guam’s Jadyn Riley got into the action in the 54th minute with Jada Elise assisting in the goal from close range between two Sri Lankan defenders for a 3-1 score. Guam scored their fourth goal in the 65th minute to make it 4-1 and soon after R.Kirushanthi scored the second goal for Sri Lanka.
