Lanka Securities wins ‘CSE Masterminds’

The second edition of ‘CSE Masterminds’, Sri Lanka’s industry-wide capital market quiz competition organised by the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) concluded recently at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo with Lanka Securities emerging the winner. DFCC Bank was runner up while London Stock Exchange Group – Team A was second runner up. The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 100, 000 with additional cash prizes of Rs. 75, 000 and Rs. 50, 000 awarded to second and third placed teams.

Recognition was also offered to teams excelling within their respective categories - DFCC Bank (Banks), Ceylon Guardian Investment Trust PLC (Finance/Insurance/Asset Management), Lanka Securities (Stockbrokers/Investment Banks), London Stock Exchange Group Team A (Technology/Telecom), Nithya Partners (Professional Services) and Hayleys PLC (Diversified).

The objective of the competition was to enhance knowledge of the capital market. Forty six teams from a number of public/private companies and other institutions from around the country were quizzed on their knowledge of the stock market, global capital markets, local and international business and areas related to financial securities.

CSE CEO Rajeeva Bandaranaike said CSE Masterminds was successful in reaching out to a broader audience than anticipated, underlining interest in the capital market among listed and unlisted entities. First Capital Holdings was Platinum Sponsor, Nations Trust Bank Gold Sponsor, and Bank of Ceylon, DFCC Bank, Softlogic Stockbrokers and Taprobane Securities were Silver Sponsors.

Shangri-La Colombo was Hospitality Partner, Lite FM Radio Partner and Entertainment Unlimited Event Management Partner.
