The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) is seeking public and affected persons to make submissions to the Commission in its efforts to probe recent violent incidents based on religious hatred, in the Kandy district.
“HRCSL will investigate complaints made by the public with regard to the aforementioned issue by virtue of their powers vested under the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka Act No.21 of 1996,”said a notice on HRCSL web.
Accordingly, written submissions from the victims should not exceed three pages and must include the date, place and time of incidents and names of persons or institutions identified with relation to the issues addressed by the written submissions. Further, photographs or videos of the incidents can also be submitted.
Collection of written information and evidence from persons affected by the incidents and any other interested party, is the initial step of this investigation.
HRCSL requests submissions to be forwarded via registered post to Regional Coordinator, Kandy Regional Office, Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka, No.8/1, Primrose Road, Peradeniya Road, Kandy.
