UNP Kandy District MP Ananda Aluthgamage lies down on the Kandy - Hatton main road, demanding the immediate transfer of the Nawalapitiya Police OIC Ananda Rajapaksa. The MP called off his protest yesterday at 5 pm after mediation by Central Provincial Councilor M.T.M.Muthaliff and with the Police OIC agreeing to go on leave until the Police Commission takes a final decision on the matter. MP Aluthgamage started his protest yesterday morning at the zebra crossing opposite the Nawalapitiya police station, disrupting vehicular traffic. He refused to budge until an assurance was given that the Police OIC would be transferred.
