A double homicide was reported from Minuwangoda, Gamangedara yesterday when a father and son from the same family were brutally hacked to death. The victims are said to be a 48-year-old father of four and a 20-year-old youth. According to the Police, the incident had occurred around 8 am and was a result of a personal dispute between the deceased and a neighbouring family. Following the incident, the Police arrested three individuals including a father and two sons of a family in the Gamangedara area. According to Police sources, there had been an existing dispute between the two families regarding the taunting of a girl by the victims.
Police say the suspects had laid in wait for the victims prior to attacking them with sharp weapons. The victims had suffered fatal injuries to their head and neck areas and were declared dead on arrival at the Minuwangoda Base Hospital.
Minuwangoda Police are carrying out further investigations into the incident.
