Wakf Board orders Nawala Mosque Trustees not to prevent religious activities by Muslims of the area

The Wakf Board has decreed that the facilities in the Nawala Jumma Masjid should be made available to all Muslims living in and around Nawala area without any restrictions being imposed, as the Trust Deed of the Mosque left by the Donor has expressly defined that the beneficiaries of the Will are the Muslims of the area.

The Wakf Board, after having heard the petition filed in the year 2012 by five members of the congregation headed by M. Mohinudeen against the now serving Trustees of the Masjid, delivered its verdict on July 6, 2017.

The Wakf Board Chairman Mr. M.M. Yaseen and all four members present agreeing in a unanimous decisions said, Trustees of the Nawala Masjid should refrain from preventing any Muslims of the area from using the Masjid for their religious or religious related activities such as Thableeq activities.

The Wakf Board order delivered against the persons in-charge of the Nawala Jummah Masjid reads, the Trust deed does not specify a group or sect to be the sole beneficiaries of the Trust. The Trustees are the managers of the Masjid and should refrain from preventing religious activities being conducted in the Masjid and should enable the members of the area to practise their religion and related activities in the Masjid, without any obstacle or hindrance.
