Swimmer Mathew Abeysinghe (left) and Nimali Liyanaarachchi (right) won the prestigious Presidential award for the most outstanding sportsman and woman from President Maithripala Sirisena at the 2016 Presidential Sports Award ceremony at the BMICH on Friday. Abeysinghe won the award for his outstanding performance in swimming while Nimali Liyanaarachchi was rewarded for her record breaking effort in the women’s 800 m race last year.
