Hejaaz International School, Mt. Lavinia bagged the top award at the 11th Asian Karate championship at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. Hejaaz International School, bagged the overall title in the KATA event amidst fierce competition with the boys winning 11 gold medals and 10 silver medals while the girls clinched six gold medals and 19 silvers.
This is a tribute to the grit and determination shown by every Hejaazite and the rigourous workout conducted by the trainers, Sensei Chaminda Herath with the boys and Sensei Thilini Kulathunga with the girls.
This sport has gained momentum recently with the school providing ample facilities and opportunities for students to excel.
The dedication shown by the teachers-in-charge, Suranganie Weerasinghe and Achala Wickramasinghe are also commendable.
