Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara assumed duties as the new Vice Chancellor (VC) of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) on Friday (Aug 1). He will replace Major General Milinda Peiris, as the new Vice Chancellor.
Rear Admiral Kumara is an illustrious naval officer who served as the Commander of the Eastern Naval Command before being appointed as the KDU VC.
The new VC placed floral tributes at the KDU War Heroes’ monument after receiving a Guard of Honour during the ceremony organised for the inauguration of the new appointment. He also inspected a ceremonial parade with university colours at the parade ground.
