My favourite book is Ambayaluwo written by T.B. Illangaratna.
In this story there are two children. They are friends and Nimal and Sunil are their names. Sunil’s family is a rich family. Nimal’s family is poor. Sunil’s father is a government officer and his mother is a kumarihami. This is a title given to a noblewoman. His grandmother and sister too live in Sunil’s home.
Nimal’s father is a labourer and his mother is a poor woman. Nimal has brothers and sisters.
One day, going home after school, Sunil, Nimal and their friends saw a mango tree. All the children ran towards it. Nimal picked up a mango from the ground. Suddenly, Sunil came there and saying” I saw this mango first, this is my mango “ took the mango from Nimal. The two boys fought for the mango. Later, Nimal took another mango and offered a slice to Sunil. After this day, they became friends.
Sunil helped Nimal every day. He gave Nimal shirts, food and many other things.
This story tells us about their friendship. They always cared about each other.
