Creative Software marks two decades in software industry

19 January, 2020

A leader and pioneer in the Sri Lankan software industry, Creative Software, marked two decades of operations this November.

The milestone was celebrated on a grand scale at the Shangri-La Hotel recently. Swedish tech entrepreneur, Bengt Nilsson was the chief guest. Norwegian ambassador, Trine Jøranli Eskedal was also present.

Employees with their families, academic staff from universities, officers from diplomatic missions and government institutions as well as clients, enjoyed a night of togetherness celebrating ‘Two Decades of Creativity’. Director of Creative Software, Sushena Ranatunga said, “As we celebrate two decades of excellence, it is worthwhile to remember the significant milestones throughout the journey and our contribution to the transition of Sri Lanka from a fresh entrant to the software industry to a preferred outsourcing destination for Scandinavian countries.”

The Norwegian ambassador, Trine Jøranli Eskedal spoke about the strong link between Sri Lanka and Scandinavia, particularly in Information Technology, and how this link has benefitted both Scandinavia and Sri Lanka.

Bengt Nilsson was one of the first to choose Sri Lanka as an outsourcing destination when he, as the CEO of IFS, decided to set-up a software development centre in Sri Lanka.

“When I first arrived in Sri Lanka, it was clear that the country - with its aptly trained professionals - had great potential and could become a preferred destination for software outsourcing. Today that potential has been realised. It brings me great pleasure to wish Creative Software a happy anniversary as it continues on its journey as one of Sri Lankas leading software companies.”

Set up in 1999, today Creative Software and associated companies employ almost 700 people.
