Arahat Mahinda, the son of King Dharmashoka brought Buddhism to Sri Lanka on Poson Poya day. We celebrate it by observing sil. On this day people give alms. There are many pandals erected all over the country. We make Poson lanterns and light oil lamps. We also go to Mihintalaya. It is a very beautiful and colourful religious festival.
