Following an incredible afternoon reception, which included a seasonal menu, and a rendition of “Circle of Life” from The Lion King by Elton John himself, Harry and Meghan drove in an electric Jaguar to their evening party. Meghan, of course, changed into a stunning second wedding dress, this one designed by Stella McCartney.
Hosted by Prince Charles at Frogmore House, the exclusive evening party again attracted a whole host of celebrities, and it also featured a lot of surprises. Here’s everything you need to know about Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding evening party:
1) Prince Charles hosted, and paid for, the exclusive party.
The evening party started with a “sit-down dinner” made from organic ingredients, consisting of “light-bite canapes” following the theme of “spring meets summer.” The meal ran from 7.30pm to 10pm, and was organized thanks to Prince Charles.
While over 600 guests were invited to the couple’s post-nuptial luncheon, their evening party at Frogmore house was much smaller, with around 200 guests invited, including famous friends like Serena Williams, Amal Clooney, and Priyanka Chopra.
2) Prince William gave a ‘naughty’ speech.
Prince William apparently gave a very “naughty” speech during the evening dinner, and that Prince Harry’s close friends, Tom “Skippy” Inskip and Tom Van Straubenzee, also gave a cheeky joint speech.
3) There was a fireworks display.
Considering Harry and Meghan’s fairytale wedding was straight out of a Disney movie, it’s unsurprising that a major fireworks display took place at Windsor Castle around 11pm,
4) Prince Harry chose the music selection.
“The thud of loud music could be heard over the grounds of Windsor Castle” late into the night. DJ Sam Totolee curated the evening’s set list, which included all of “Harry’s favorite House tracks.” The same DJ apparently performed at Pippa Middleton’s wedding last year.
5) Midnight snacks of dirty burgers and candy floss were served.
Following the afternoon’s seasonal menu, the glorious wedding cake, and the evening’s organic canapes, Harry and Meghan served their guests midnight snacks of ‘dirty burgers’ and candy floss. Basically, nobody at Harry and Meghan’s big day went hungry.
6) The themed cocktails paid tribute to the bride and groom.
One of the cocktails at the evening reception was called ‘When Harry Met Meghan’ and included ginger and rum in a “cheeky nod to Harry’s red hair.” the couple had Drinks of the World-themed bar, which just sounds perfect.
7) They chose a Whitney Houston classic for their first dance as a married couple.
In keeping with the rest of the wedding, which was inspired by Meghan’s American heritage, the couple apparently selected Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” for their first dance, which is beyond adorable.
8) Meghan also gave a speech.
Meghan was expected to give a speech at the evening reception.
9) Elton John apparently played for the evening guests, too.
Following John’s afternoon performance, “a grinning Harry is said to have turned to his guests, asking: “Can anyone play the piano?” before Sir Elton John gave a moving medley of four hits—”Your Song,” “Tiny Dancer,” “Circle Of Life,” and “I’m Still Standing.”
10) James Corden apparently played an important role.
Corden took on the role of “host and entertainer for the reception.”
11) There was an ‘after-after’ party.
Following the party at Frogmore House, guests apparently travelled back to London for an “after-after party” which took place “at celebrity favourite Chiltern Firehouse in Marylebone,” with a separate party “planned in a sound proofed private home in Chelsea.” But how did everyone stay awake?!
Prince William and Kate Middleton return to Kensington Palace after the Royal Wedding
They looked like they had the right amount of fun
Prince William and Kate Middleton clearly had a great time at the royal wedding reception, hiding behind sunglasses upon their return to Buckingham Palace.
The royal couple had much to celebrate after the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Prince William was Prince Harry’s best man and even gave a naughty speech at the very private wedding party that took place until the early hours of the morning. Kate Middleton, who donned Alexander McQueen for the big day, did not have an official role in the ceremony, although Prince George and Princess Charlotte participated as a page boy and bridesmaid, respectively.
It’s unknown if Prince George and Princess Charlotte were with them in the car but it’s probably a safe bet that it was a special night out for the royal parents as they got to enjoy midnight snacks, themed cocktails, and fireworks at the exclusive party hosted by Prince Charles. the private party at Frogmire House was ‘festival-themed’ and even included a tiki bar at the request of the groom.
There were also two after-parties that took place in London after the party at Frogmore House. One took place at Chiltern Firehouse in Marylebone while another took place in a soundproofed private home in Chelsea. While it’s not confirmed if Prince William and Kate Middleton attended either of those parties, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them in need of a bit of rest after celebrating with the newlyweds all night long. Meghan Markle officially became the Duchess of Sussex when she married Prince Harry, but the celebrations didn’t end at St. George’s Chapel.
