Prof. E. M. P. Ekanayake assumed duties as the fifth Vice-Chancellor of the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka (WUSL) recently. He has over 29 years of service as an academic and over 18 years of administrative experience in the university system.
Prof. Ekanayake obtained a BSc. (Hons.) Degree in Mathematics from the University of Kelaniya in 1986 and, thereafter, proceeded to the University of Kyushu, Japan where he obtained the MSc. and DSc. degrees in 1991 and 1994. He is also a Postgraduate Fellow of the University of Oxford, UK.
Having entered the university service as an Assistant Lecturer in Mathematics at the University of Kelaniya, after obtaining his postgraduate qualifications, Prof. Ekanayake joined the University of Ruhuna in 1994.
In 1996, he joined the Wayamba Campus of the Rajarata University and is a pioneer of the Wayamba Campus of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka and the WUSL.
