The annual Embassy Chef Challenge was held at the International Trade Centre in the Ronald Regan Building in Washington DC recently.
Over 30 Embassy chefs showcased their culinary talent with food preparation skills and signature delicacies of each country, a Sri Lanka Embassy official said.
Sri Lanka was represented by Embassy Chef Anuradha Wijesinghe, who presented a spicy kottu with chicken curry and received public compliments for its taste and presentation. All participating chefs were required to present one pre-prepared food item for sampling and for consumption by visitors. The Embassy Chef Challenge event was another platform to portray the island’s rich cultural heritage and attractive tourist sites. An awareness program on Ceylon Cinnamon and Ceylon Tea was also conducted.
The Embassy Chef Challenge event organized by the Cultural Tourism DC (CTDC) offers a rare opportunity to showcase authentic food by Embassy affiliated chefs across oceans during the month of May as a part of month long celebrations of international cultural awareness.
