
People’s Bank celebrated its 62nd anniversary, which fell on July 1, with a series of religious programs. The religious observances organised by the bank’s Buddhist Association, Hindu Association, Muslim Majlis and the Christian Guild, were held at the Bank’s head office premises amid a large gathering of employees.
The People’s Bank’s Buddhist Association organised an all-night Pirith ceremony on June 30, which was followed by an alms giving for 62 Bhikkhus the next day. The Hindu Association, Muslim Majlis and the Christian Guild of the People’s Bank conducted religious observances on July 4. The religious programs were organised with an aim to invoke blessings to the country, its people and customers and the founders of People’s Bank. People’s Bank Chairman Sujeewa Rajapakse and Acting Chief Executive Officer / General Manager Clive Fonseka, corporate and executive management of the bank, the present and past staff members graced the occasion.
