The puzzle of love

Last night, amidst the sea of faces
At the wedding reception
My eyes kept searching for
Your lovely visage and lovelier eyes
Chiselled after Angelina Jolly’s
And lit up with a grin always.
I’d always loved to see myself
In your eyes
à la Narcissus.

An inseparable mix of happy and sad memories
Kept hovering on the sky of my heart
Like clouds shifting, breaking away, and re-merging
Floating and floating all the while

My feelings for you are still more confused
And confusing than clear.
I love you very much we both know
But with no rights in your life,
Being neither your father nor your lover.

What’s really unclear is why.
Is it sheer infatuation?
Do I love you like a friend
Or like a sister I never had?

Perhaps love is a feeling, too large and too deep
To confine to a word
To imprison in a definition.
And to classify, too complex;
It’s more like a colour with countless shades
Or like waves in a sea
Without a beginning, middle or end
Going and going

To infinity and beyond.

She found her star

The instant she saw him,
She knew she had found her star.
And she felt in her bones;
That he is the one for her!
She didn’t know what his voice was like for real,
But seeing his innocent smile through the photos;
He stole her heart in a glimpse.
She couldn’t help but think that he was a
Gift heaven sent her . . .
The love she has for him
Is the truest of all.
Her love for him was richer than gold,
That even the skies above bowed down!
