Once upon a time, there was a handsome king and a beautifull queen who ruled a large kingdom. Soon, they had a baby girl. She was beautiful with a snow white skin and lovely black hair. Her royal parents named her Snow White.
Sadly, Snow White’s mother, the queen, died and the king married again. The new queen was beautiful, very wicked and she was jealous of Snow White’s beauty.
The magic mirror
The new queen had a magic mirror and every day she asked it”:
“Mirror, Mirror, on the wall,
Who is the fairest of them all’?
The mirror gave the same reply every day ;
‘You, O Queen, you are the fairest of them all”.
Snow – White grew up to be a lovely young girl.
One day, the queen as usual went to the magic mirror on the wall and said,
“Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all”?
The mirror replied:
“ SnowWhite is the fairest of them all’.
The wicked queen was very angry, Sne did not want anyone to be more beautiful than her.
She summoned the royal huntsman and told him to take Snow White to the forest and kill her.
The huntsman took Snow White to the forest but did not have the heart to kill her. He told her to run away and never come back to the castle.
He said that if she comes back the queen would have her killed. This frightened poor Snow- White so much that she ran away into the forest.
Snow White ran till she could run no more. As she thought she could run no more she saw a little cottage in the forest.
Snow White opened the door and went in. She saw a table with seven little chairs and seven little beds.
“These beds are so little who could sleep on them”? wondered Snow White. She was so tired that she went to sleep on the beds.
In the evening, the dwarfs or the little men who lived in the cottage came home after working in the mines. They were amazed to see Snow White fast asleep on their beds.
Snow White woke and when she saw the dwarfs she asked them who they were. The biggest dwarf said they were the seven dwarfs. Snow White said she was running away as her step mother the wicked Queen wanted to kill her.
The dwarfs kindly told her to stay with them and that she would be safe. But they told her never to speak to anyone who came to the door.
After a while, the wicked queen went to the mirror on the wall and asked it who was the fairest of them all. The mirror said it was Snow White.
The Queen fell into a rage . She dressed in old clothes and hurried to the forest. She found the little cottage.
The dwarfs were at work but Snow White who was at home went to the door.
The wicked queen asked Snow- White whether she would like to see her lovely ribbons. Snow- White opened the door to look at the ribbons.
The queen quickly put a ribbon round the lovely girl’s neck so that she could not breathe. She fell in a faint.
When the dwarfs came back they found the fainted girl. They quickly took off the ribbon and put Snow White to bed.
When she awoke she told the dwarfs what had happened. They told her never to open the door to anyone.
Jewelled combs
Once again, the wicked queen went to the mirror on the wall to find out who was the fairest of them all.
On being told it was Snow- White she flew into a rage and disguised herself as an old woman and went to the forest.
She came to the cottage and knocked on the door.
Snow- White looked out of the window and said that the dwarfs had asked her not to open the door to anyone.
“Then I will put a comb by the door and leave, “ said the wicked queen.
After she left Snow White opened the door and put the jewelled comb in her hair and fell into a dead faint. The jewelled comb was poisoned.
When the dwarfs came home they quickly removed the comb and put SnowWhite to bed and looked after her till she recovered. They again told her not to speak to anyone or open the door to strangers.
