Amaya Natural Batik focuses on natural dyes

Finding the best quality in naturally dyed batik clothing and design in the average market is a rarity and nowadays, people have become accustomed to shopping for good quality, vibrant designs. A new trend that has been noticed however is the growing demand for handmade designs that have been created using natural ingredients.

One such enterprise that specializes in designing batik clothing naturally and promoting this trend, is Amaya Natural Batik of Galewela, Matale. This start-up is owned and run by Shiromi Pathirana. Shiromi started the business in 2015 and currently employs eight people.

They create shirts, sarongs, bedsheets, night wears, frocks, pillowcases, sarees, swimming scarves and even natural dyed slippers.

About 25 suppliers also benefit from them, where they are able to earn an indirect income by providing raw materials.
