The power of words, though intangible, possesses a great power to change even the world. Unfortunately, only a handful of people are concerned about this.
In pre-historic times, people, through different symbols and signs, accomplished the purpose of communication. But after the development of language even profound ideas and human thoughts could be successfully conveyed.
The art of words
When speaking of the art of words, it can be pointed out that our words are directly influenced by our thoughts. Therefore, our thoughts should be positive for the words to become positive. For instance, “ I am poor please help me “, “please help me to be rich like you “.
If we draw our attention to the above lines, the first one, as you feel, is negative and gives you a negative impression about whosoever said it. But the second one, on the contrary, can give you a positive impression.
Even in class rooms when students with unique skills and talents make a mistake, we may have heard or experienced some teachers, calling those students “ a fool “ or “ idiot “ without knowing that these words can affect their minds.
For instance, the great scientist, Albert Einstein whose brain has become a research topic, was called “Idiot” by his teacher. But after his invention many developments and inventions began to emerge in the world of science. Therefore, teachers can expostulate with the students upon any subject in a positive manner.
“This is wrong; you are a fool “ This is wrong but you can try”.
The above two lines are conveying two different attitudes. Not only does the first one imply negative feelings but also can engrave the negative attitudes in the children’s minds. But the second line unlike the first one can cement the positive attitudes in their minds.
Moreover , some lyricists from the new generation can also be found disseminating negative attitudes and ideas through their songs. As a result , the listeners psychologically affected by their songs can think of problems in a negative aspect.
Self talk
Self-talk is the place in which waves of thoughts can occur uninterruptedly in one’s mind. The thoughts running through our minds can be either positive or negative. Therefore, we have to train our inner talk to become positive.
Steps to train our mind to be positive :
01. Identify the weaknesses and the strengths:
‘To err is human to forgive is divine’: this implies that humans are not omnipotent.
Though we all tend to make mistakes in our lives but it is inevitable to have a clear understanding of our strengths and weaknesses for the betterment of our life.
Physical exercises
It is a must to take time off to have physical exercise as physical exercise can help us reduce stress and fuel our energy.
Surround yourself with positive thinkers:
Suppose your friend is a bookworm, only then will you be spontaneously glued to books. Therefore, it is sensible to keep the negative thinkers away from you and the positive thinkers very close to you because friends can influence your life directly.
Finally, it can be said that if we have a will there is a way to achieve the goal. In doing so, we should not lose sight of the fact that the words we use in our life can either empower or disempowered our lives. Therefore, it is imperative to learn the art of using words in a positive way.
