The road I walk
In my village
Away from the busy town
Is like an old beggar
with ragged clothes and
wounds all over the body.
Cars and vans move
Like boats in a tank
Splashing and turning
My white school unifom
Into a brown batik frock
Nirodha Tharushi Basnagoda.
