Chairperson of the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR) and former President Chandrika Kumaratunga was the chief guest at the opening of the traditional Northern food outlet, Ammachchi in Keerimalai last week, during her three-day visit to the Northern Province. The former President was joined by NPC Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran and TNA MP Mavai Senathirajah. Several Ammachchi eateries have been opened in the North, with the outlets providing employment predominantly to war-affected women who prepare and serve food at the increasingly popular restaurants.
