Ten scholarships were awarded to students of Helena Wijewardene Balika School, Kelaniya to mark the 35th Anniversary of Upali Wijewardene who disappeared in his private Lear Jet plane when flying from Malaysia on February 13, 1983.
Scholarships were awarded at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara in the presence of Ven. Prof Mahinda Sangarakkitta Nayaka Thero, State Minister of Defence, Ruwan Wijewardene, Chief Basnayake Nilame, Dhammika Attygalle, Secretary, Dayaka Sabha, Saman Ranasinghe, CMC Member (Cinnamon Gardens) Duminda Attygalle, and Managing Director Upali Group, Nimal Welgama.
