Wasting time in traffic
Since last week, the traffic department has suddenly decided to change Royal Gardens Road to an incoming one way and is diverting the entire traffic from Koswatta Road to N J V Cooray Road.
However, they forget an important point in the entire exercise, that there is a school, Gateway College which attracts a huge influx of vehicles every morning from both sides.
Someone like me who has to drive from Koswatta Road, dropping the kids at the school and go towards Parliament has to exit from N J V Cooray Road and drive all the way back to the under construction flyover at Nawala Road junction before I get a U turn. What used to take only 10 – 15 minutes earlier in the morning, now takes over 90 minutes.
I am sure there are different ways to manage the traffic and make it less painful for the public.
I have pictures showing the plight the people have to go through every morning, and, we need someone to help us in this regard.

‘Every little heart deserves the best care’
Every year over 3,000 children are born with congenital heart disease (CHD) and of these infants many do not live to celebrate their first birthday. Every second is a constant struggle for these little ones to keep their hearts beating, and should they survive infancy, they are condemned to a life on the sidelines, unable to join their friends to play, incapable of the slightest form of exertion while maintaining a strict and restrictive diet and enduring frequent medication and visits to the doctor. CHD has been reported to be the primary cause of infant deaths in Sri Lanka. However, with the proper resources, the number of deaths caused by CHD can be significantly reduced.
September 19 2017 saw a leading distribution network, DSL Enterprises (Pvt) Ltd, announce their participation in the Little Hearts project, which aims to build a Cardiac and Critical Care Complex at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital.
The Cardiac and Critical Care Complex will be a ten-story wing built on the grounds of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital in Colombo. The complex will feature specialized cardiac operating theatres, a significantly increased number of medical and neonatal ICU beds as well as facilities for research and staff training.

“We are truly grateful to DSL Enterprises (Pvt) Ltd for their contribution towards the Little Hearts project. DSL Enterprises (Pvt) Ltd and the project committee of Little Hearts humbly request everyone’s participation in this initiative. Every pen or pencil purchased will help keep a little heart beating.
