Santhush Gunatileka of St.Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya made his way to the top spot displacing his colleague Lakshina Rodrigo by polling 21524 to Rodrigo’s 21350 with a slender majority of 174 votes in the division 1 category at the end of the 16th week count in the Sunday Observer/ Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The year contest.
From the start of the contest it has been a three cornered tussle between Rodrigo, Gunatileka and Abeywickrema at number three with 19419 votes.
There were no changes in the other two categories with Piyumal Sinhawansa (St.Anne’s, Kurunegala) and Charitha Basnayake (Bandarawela CC) cruising along in division 2 and 3 respectively.
